The Design Process
Mood Boards
Sketches
I experimented with different ideas for the skate companies logo to give the owner an idea of how he wants the company to be presented. In these sketches I explored the idea of abstract and pictorial logos.
Logo Drafts
For these logos I created some digital drafts that were only black and white. After seeing these drafts we decided which would look best with back and which designs should move foward.
For this mood board I gathered skate aesthetic photos that show fun, creativity, expression along with a grungy unkept feel to it.
This mood board shows rebellion which is what Revolution skate company is about. Also, the grungy spray paint aesthetic fits well with the skate company.
For these sketches I explored emblems and word mark. I showed the owner many ways his company emblem/ wordmark can be conveyed. These sketches helped aid our decision making process.
Since red was one of the brand colors I wanted to experiment what it would look like to make different designs red. After looking over the designs it was decided only certain designs look best with this color.
Logos
Final Designs
For the finishing touches I designed several mockups ups of shirts, pins, skateboards, letterheads, stickers and business cards that featured the logo, the secondary logo, and a slogan. The owner came to me for a logo design and I ended up expanding on his business idea and gave him a brand identity, logo, guideline and merch.
The Challenge
The challenge was to help design a brand identity, logo, brand guidelines and merchandise for a local start up skate company.
The solutions to this was to design several drafts of logos, playing with many ideas, refining the drafts and figuring out what colors and type will work with this brand. Then moving forward with what merchandise would be best for this business.

Reflection
I am the most proud of this project. I enjoyed discussing with my friend on how to make his business dreams come to life. I enjoyed every step of the process of this company become even more real. Just the process of an idea turning into a sketch and then into an actual product is very magical. I want to work on more projects like this and assist people with helping their creative ideas come to life!
